Nuclear Power–Let’s Beat the Devil

Nuclear Power

(To the tune of “Besame Mucho”

Nuclear, nuclear power

One time you seemed like the answer,

Our problems were solved

Nuclear, nuclear power

Now it is clear there is far too much danger involved.

Nuclear, you were our savior

One little atom and energy flowed like the tide.

A teensy pinch of glowing uranium

Would light all our homes

As its atoms would gently collide.

But then Chernobyl blew

Three-Mile Island, too

Thousands had nuclear flu

A long moratorium

While we looked more at ‘em

Seemed like the smart thing to do.

Diablo, you are our neighbor

You’re on a fault and you’re built

like the Japanese plant

When will you live up to your namesake?

Let’s beat the devil before it’s too late, and we can’t.
