THE PRICE OF GAS

OH, THE PRICE OF GAS
(I’m an Old Cow Hand from the Rio Grande)

Oh, the price of gas
Shore has got me down
Cain’t drive to work
Cain’t drive to town.
Now, I hate to walk cause it’s too durn slow
And I sold my horse many years ago–
He’d a’ died by now, he was old, you know.
Yippee-I-O-Oy vay!
Yippee-I-O-Oy vay!

Tried to trade my Ford
for an old cayuse
No one wants it now
Cain’t afford the juice.
I’d a kept my cows if I had a brain;
They’d a done all right in the center lane–
And they sure manufactured a high octane!
Yippee-I-O-Oy vay!
Yippee-I-O-Oy vay!

Oh, there’s folks out there
Want to drill our shore
So the oil will last
Just a few years more.
I’m a dumb cowpoke, but to me it’s clear
That the stuff’s pollutin’ the atmosphere,
Guess we should be glad that it costs so dear.
Yippee-I-O-Oy vay!
Yippee-I-O-Oy vay!

So I’ll take the train
Or I’ll try the bus.
Once I get on board
There’ll be no more fuss.
I can ride the range while I play, you see,
With my laptop, my i-pod, my BlackBerry,
Oh, it’s fine out here on the lone prair-ee
Yippee-I-O-Oy vay!
Yippee-I-O-Oy vay!
