The Supremes’ great giveaway

CORPORATIONS ARE NOT PERSONS

(Comin’ Through the Rye)

Five old biddies out of nine
Say we should have no fears.
Congresspersons aren’t corrupt;
They’re pure as angels’ tears.
Corporate persons have the right
To take our votes and shove ‘em.
‘Cause five old dears are out of touch–
Ah, well, ya gotta love ‘em.

Corporations are not persons
They don’t have a soul.
They have neither hearts nor livers
They don’t rock and roll.
Yet our Supreme ‘Judicators
Gave them such a prize–
They’ll spend their cash to buy elections,
Selling dreadful lies.

Corporations do not hunger
They’re not parched with thirst
Do not bleed when they are wounded
Cry when they are cursed.
When they get old, they do not die
They simply split their stock;
And still, the lofty court declares, they’re persons–
What a crock!

We must not sink back into
our La-z-y-boys and snivel
We must not let them get away
with such a load of drivel.
Though they are Supremes and all,
We know how we’ll confound ‘em–
We’ll pass a Fair Elections law
And make a run around ‘em!
