HOW TO BE A RAGING GRANNY:
If you’d like to join the Santa Cruz WILPF Raging Grannies, there are three requirements: Be Female (one way or another); be a Progressive Thinker (i.e., be a reasonable human being); and like to sing (or be able to fake it). We’d eventually require you to join WILPF, since we are an integral part of that noble and venerable organization (founded in 1915), but since you are a Progressive Thinker, you will want very much to join WILPF and its active work for peace and justice.
We’re available for most any event that promotes human rights and freedoms. To book us or join us, call Jan Harwood at (831) 471-9992.

How about a list of all the places and events where the SC Grannies have sang?
Wow, Pavel! I couldn’t even think of them all! We’ve sung at so many peace rallies and vigils, so many protests and die-ins, at speeches by Medea Benjamin, Sam Farr, Daniel Hirsch, and many others; we’ve sung in parades and boy, did we belt out some happy songs on Obama’s Inauguration Day, just before WILPF put on a huge street party that all of Santa Cruz got into in a very big way! We’ve put on several concerts: at the Crepe Place, the Coffee Roasting Company, De Anza Mobile Home Park, Sunshine Villa. Sometimes, we just go out on Pacific Ave. in downtown Santa Cruz and sing our hearts out. I hope you come and see us tne next time we do our thing; we’ll let you know on this website. We have no idea what all these comments are referring to–we do have some good water conservation songs, but this is ridiculous! If we did help preserve even one little drop of pure H2O, however, good on us!

I knew you in the Bronx when I was just a tiny girl. My parents were Tess and Irving. I still remember you. Your warmth was extraordinary. I searched for you because I dreamed about you last night, I guess bec. it was mother’s day and when I was very young I wished y’d been my mother!! In any case, I’m thrilled you are a raging granny! I had no idea you were Moe Fishman’s sister! I have been a union activist for almost 30 years now, first in the transport workers and now in the teachers union. It’s wonderful to read about your life and inspirational.
